Literacy & Writing Support
Writing and Literacy Tutoring
One-on-one remote support in reading comprehension, fluency, and essay writing — built one paragraph at a time, tailored to each student.
Kerry Winer's writing and literacy tutoring helps students build reading comprehension, fluency, and the confidence to put ideas into words. As a literacy coach and English Language Arts educator with thirty-three years in Massachusetts classrooms, Kerry treats writing not as a chore but as a skill worth mastering with care, structure, and genuine mentorship.
Reading, in Kerry's teaching, is never passive. Students learn to read closely — to notice an author's choices, to question a text, and to carry meaning from the page into their own thinking. Comprehension is built deliberately: from decoding and fluency in the early grades to inference, analysis, and critical interpretation as readers mature. The goal is not simply to finish a book, but to understand it deeply enough to talk and write about it.
On the writing side, students work on expository and narrative essays one paragraph at a time, tailored to their grade level and voice. Kerry teaches students how to start before they feel ready, how to revise, and how to let their own voice come through — so a blank page becomes a place to begin rather than a wall.
Sessions are conducted one-on-one by video, with no rigid packages or minimums. The hourly rate for literacy and writing support is $150 per hour. A brief initial consultation is included at no cost, and Kerry personally reviews every inquiry and responds within one to two business days.
