Trust & Clarity

Terms of Service

Last updated October 29, 2026

Clear expectations make good teaching possible. These terms describe how sessions are scheduled, how they are billed, and what each side can expect from the work.

The Services

Kerry Winer provides one-on-one remote tutoring in literacy and writing, K–8 academic support, standardized test preparation, college essay coaching, and mentor coaching for educators. All sessions are delivered by video at a time agreed in advance.

Scheduling and Session Time

Sessions are scheduled in advance by mutual agreement. A session begins at the agreed time; time lost to a late start cannot be made up and is not credited, except where the delay is on my side.

Rates and Payment

Rates are set out on the Rate Sheet and may be revised with reasonable notice. Sessions are invoiced and payment is due on receipt unless another arrangement has been agreed in writing.

The lesson rate includes preparation reasonably necessary for the scheduled session. Work requested by or performed on behalf of a family, student, school, or independent educational or tutoring agent that goes beyond ordinary lesson preparation is billed separately at the standard hourly rate in 30-minute increments.

Cancellations

Sessions may be rescheduled or cancelled without charge with at least 24 hours' notice. Later cancellations and missed sessions are charged the full session fee. The Refund & Cancellation Policy sets out the details.

What This Work Is — and Is Not

This is instruction, coaching, and feedback. It is not a guarantee of any particular score, grade, admission decision, or other outcome. Students remain responsible for their own work, their own preparation, and their own decisions.

Academic Integrity

The work is coaching: teaching a student to plan, draft, revise, and reason for themselves. Written work submitted for school or for an application must remain the student's own. Kerry will not write an assignment or an application essay for a student.

Materials

Handouts, reading lists, plans, and other materials prepared for a student are for that student's personal, non-commercial use. They are not to be redistributed or resold.

Technology and Conduct

  • —A reliable internet connection, a quiet space, and — where possible — a working camera and microphone are needed for sessions to go well.
  • —Sessions are conducted with courtesy and good faith from both sides.
  • —A session may be ended, without refund, where conduct makes the work unsafe or unproductive.

Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, liability arising from the tutoring services is limited to the fees paid for the sessions concerned. Kerry is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of opportunity connected with an examination result or an admission decision.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Changes to These Terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. The current version is always posted on this page.
